It has taken 10 years, but now it is there, the jewel of architecture, that is. Up in the far north of Germany, in Hamburg, to be precise.

I just love Elphi, which is short for Elbphilharmonie, a concert hall at its best, with all musical features (sound related) you could dream of, but also with a beautiful facade, made of heavenly inspiration, and then some glass. Also the location is superb, within the Elbe harbour quarter (Hafen-City), looking across the river, with paddle wheel steamers passing by. This is heavenly architecture to my taste.

But have a look for yourself.

Waves and sky, united
Raising high on top of an old storehouse
The balcony / visitor terrace
Sound design in the wall plates, reflecting every tiny tone, even to the most remote of the seats
The ceiling above the ramp
The beauty at night
The great Ludwig van Beethoven (with a bad hair day) …
… and his master piece Missa Solemnis

We listened to Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, a big piece of art, performed by a full orchestra with choir. Very impressive, indeed.
