Recently I discovered some murals in one of Frankfurt’s lesser beautiful streets on two adjacent buildings. They made me think what they could mean.

The first one shows – which took me a while to really see – two bulls fighting with a bear. So, I mean, those two will certainly defeat the loner, will they? What else can that mean but bullish times ahead? So, time for some optimism, heh?

The second mural shows the reason why I think it is sad to have lost the old German currency, the D-Mark. On the 10 DM note, we had a picture of the bright brain who is quoted of having said “Mathematics is the queen of sciences”. And now…? We have fake bridges and building on the EURO notes, what deal was that?

So, maybe looking at Carl Friedrich’s famous bell curve of normal distribution, maybe this is a hint to remember that it is not soo bad being at the outer ends of the curve once in a while, not too much in the middle.

The special ones are always at the ends of the curve, right?

Yet another thought: If this portrait is now painted at the wall of this house, will it help the kids living there with their math homework? Oh, I might have wanted a little help from C.F.G. during my studies, back then….
